Since some online or GPS routing systems give confusing or simply wrong directions to this address, we offer some very specific “old-world system” directions here:
Directions:
We are located at 1320 State Highway 217, Ghent, NY 12075, between Harlemville & Philmont,
Near where the Taconic Parkway crosses Rte 217, and opposite Dells’Plumbing, Heating & A/C.
(The house is not visible from the road, and there is no street sign for the office.)
There is a tall wooden lantern post about 40 feet in from the road on the left side of the driveway.
It has the number 1320 hanging out on an oval sign and attached vertically to the post, with a small lantern hanging from the sign arm that gives out a focal point of light at night. There is also a fleur-de-lis hook further down which may hold a wreath or other item of seasonal decor.
The driveway is right next to the Taconic South entrance ramp, (exactly 15 feet from the Taconic
Parkway signs by the southbound entrance ramp on Route 217) and directly opposite 2 black mailboxes and a blue “Adopt a Highway” sign on the other side of the road.
From the Taconic Parkway:
Get off at the Harlemville/Philmont Exit, take a left off the exit ramp onto Route 217.
a) If coming from the southbound Taconic Parkway, take a hairpin turn into driveway on the left. If traffic allows, you hardly make it into the right driving lane before turning left into
the driveway. If you pass Dells’Plumbing, Heating & A/C set back on the right, you went too far.
b) If coming from the northbound Taconic Parkway, take a left off the ramp, drive under the bridge, continue towards the Taconic S entrance ramp, and immediately after it, take a left into the driveway. You can see the large black mailbox #1320 on the right of Rte 217 just behind it the “Adopt a Highway” sign and directly opposite the driveway.
If you pass Dells’Plumbing, Heating &A/C on the right, you went too far.
From State Highway 217:
If driving away from Harlemville towards Philmont, go under the bridge (as in “b” above)
and turn left into driveway immediately after the Taconic Parkway South entrance ramp.
If driving away from Philmont towards Harlemville, turn right into driveway immediately
before the entrance ramp to the Taconic Parkway South (15 feet in front of the sign).
